Just thought I'd write a quick summary of WWE's history, also if you want me to add more just post what things I should include and I will include whenever I have time to, also its a quick summary not a whole complete detailed history. Just what was some of the highlights, and the superstars that were involved.
The reasoning behind this post is because, I thought about the history of the WWE and thought what more could WWE accomplish? They have accomplished a lot since there begining, and it makes me wonder what is to come in the future. I thought, why not turn this into a question, why do you think is going to happen in the future of WWE?
In the early 80’s WWF/WWE had some of the most memorable moments in wrestling history, and many of the great superstars that are still recognisable even to this day, they are known to young and old hardcore wrestling fans.
WWE/WWF has a long historic history such as the birth of Wrestlemania, Saturday Nights Main Event; this era was known as “The Golden Age” which it really was the golden age of WWF/WWE or for that fact the wrestling industry.
We the fans have seen WWF/WWE go through many changes though the years from going from being “The Golden Age” of wrestling to the “New Generation” which brought WWF/WWE to hit its lowest point in the history of WWF/WWE, with the allegations of steroid abuse, and sexual harassment charges made by the WWF/WWE employees. With the WWF/WWE bring in the era called “The New Generation” brought some new up and coming wrestlers like, Shawn Michaels, Bret Hart, The Undertaker but, new superstars come new innovations into new types of WWF/WWE matches such as the first ever televised Ladder match between Shawn Michaels vs. Razor Ramon at Wrestlemania X to the debut of many WWE Icons/Legends.
After “The New Generation” was finished brought in another era in WWF/WWE called “The Monday Night Wars” where we saw WWF/WWE have a ratings war against WCW. With “The Monday Night Wars” going on and WWE feuding over ratings with WCW there were many moments that ushered in another innovation in the development in WWF/WWE. We also saw WWE lose a lot of it main star talent to WCW during the ratings wars Razor Ramon, Psycho Sid, Kevin Nash, Vader all big names in the WWF/WWE at the time. WWF/WWE rebounded though by having wrestlers like Stone Cold Steve Austin, Bret Hart, Rocky Maivia, the formation of Degeneration X.

Then came the “Attitude Era” probably known as the greatest era of all time, which changed the face and image of WWF/WWE at the time, it also gave an edge to WWF/WWE in the rating wars over WCW. WWE/WWF was allowing more of an adult content such as language, and much more violence, edgy angles. Which seemed to interest people, to the extent of people seeing more brutal matches such as, The Inferno Match, The hell in a Cell match between The Undertaker vs. Mankind just some of the many great matches that were involved in that era of wrestling.
In April 29th, 1999 WWF/WWE launched a new weekly wrestling program called Smackdown. Which allowed WWF/WWE to showcase as much talent as they possibly could, Smackdown made an impact in WWF/WWE history because; it was their second weekly televised show.
In 2000 World Wrestling Federation, changed its name due to legal issues with World Wildlife Foundation, which WWF changed their name to the WWE.
Then came the unthinkable in March 2001. WWF/WWE bought out WCW ending the Monday Night Wars, forever. With the purchase of WCW, WWF/WWE becomes the largest wrestling organization in the world.
In 2002 WWE announced that they would create two separate rosters which divided up Smackdown & Raw, the reasoning behind this was because WWF/WWE had too much talent from the acquisition of WCW.
Then on May 21st, 2006 WWE announces that they would bring back a new version of Extreme Championship wrestling under the WWE name and image. ECW became a weekly television show making ECW their 3rd weekly televised show.
In April 16, 2009 WWE launched another weekly televised program called WWE Superstars, which allowed all 3 different brands to completion from Raw, Smackdown, or ECW.
the WWE/WWF didn't change their name till after Wrestlemania X8 in 2002. they got sued in 2000 by world wide fund.
i do agree that the sttitude era was the greatest era in all of wrestling but the golden age was where the world first saw wrestling because of Hulk Hogan, Andre The Giant, Macho Man, even others outside of the WWF such as Ric Flair were considered the Superstars of that era
I made a little mistake what I ment to say was The World Wildlife Fund sued the WWE (then known as the WWF-World Wrestling Federation) in the year 2000 stating that they (WWE) had violated an agreement concerning use of the acronym WWF outside of North America. The World Wildlife Fund's suit was upheld in a British court. In 2002, the WWF changed it's name to World Wrestling Entertainment.
