Beginning with this month's Turning Point pay-per-view, TNA will start raising the prices of their pay-per-view events by $5.00.
Not sure how many people this will affect on the forum since I don't know many that actually pay to watch it and I believe this just affects North America.
I don't understand why they would raise the prices as all reports are that the PPV buyrates are still quite low. You need to build up that initial base first and once you get a stable amount then you can go crazy and raise prices. Raising the prices will put more people off from buying the event and I would assume that buyrates will drop like they did when WWE increased theirs. They are still cheaper than WWE PPV's by $5 but is the quality of the product that close that fans will see the prices comparable?
What do you think about this price rise? Will it affect the amount of TNA PPV's you buy? Is this PPV price rise because of Hogan being in TNA?
KFC if they raise them here, that would make both WWE and TNA $30 per PPV right?
I don't pay for either. I started out paying just for TNA's to show my support of the promotion, but after getting stinged with some lacklustre PPV's (compared to what I expected) I decided they could go without my money too.
I don't condone piracy, but I think even $30 a month is a bit much for a PPV myself - I remember paying $20 per WCW ppv back in 98-99.
I think this is a bad idea on TNA's part. With the horrible buy rates, this will undoubtedly make them even worse. TNA ppv's were $29.95 here in the USA, so this will make them $34.95, only five dollars cheaper than WWE's which are $39.95, except for Wrestlemania which is $49.95. I generally order one TNA ppv a year, which is Bound for Glory, and I am not even sure I will do that anymore. All in all I agree with KFC that they need to build their fan base and increase their initial buy rates before they raise the price. Bad idea TNA.

This might have to do with TNA wanting to only do 4 ppvs a year, which, i guess makes this reasonable. 34.95 is a bit much, but so are WWE's ppvs too. the economy sucks in America and they jack the prices of everything... makes sense to me!!! jk
I haven't paid for a PPV in almost 5 years. I couldn't justify spending that money to watch ANY of the PPVs in that time, TNA and WWE. Almost every time I watch a PPV, the though "wow, I'm glad I'm not paying for this, I'd be pissed off" comes to mind. This came even more true when WWE didn't separate their brands and had the combined PPVs so there was little time to build up anything, and with all the bullshit endings, the weak main event matches, so on...
Sadly, TNA is the same way. Overall I don't end up too disappointed but I realize I would be if I paid $30+ to watch the show. So, bad move on their part...you could probably expect some people that buy their PPVs to seek out the alternative methods now due to this.
