Default Sting continuing with TNA in 2010

I saw this news post earlier today on pwmania.com;

Quote:
Talk of Sting being finished with TNA Wrestling has cooled off and he is expected to return to the company. Apparently Sting will take several months off and return as an on-air character some time next year. Sting had given the impression to the office he was retiring after Bound For Glory, but he has done so several times over the past couple of years.
So Sting has had his yearly near retirement and will be coming back to TNA next year. What I am wondering is if you think that he is still an asset to TNA?

Sting has been involved with TNA since 2003 but wasn't really fulltime until 2006. Starting with 2006, at the end of each year there was always talk that he was retiring but he was always talked into staying.

His price tag is very high, most likely one of the top three when it comes down to pay per appearance as he has a limited schedule. The figure that I have read many times is around half a million a year. TNA are now getting bigger and therefore have to pay all their talent more to keep them there as they deserve a larger pay the bigger TNA gets. TNA loves to bring any big name free agent, in recent months we have had Lashley and now Hogan who would be making a mint. TNA's spending on the roster would be very large now and I wonder if Sting is worth the money he gets anymore.

Don't get me wrong I think that Sting is a great character and he is in great shape for someone his age I just wonder if he should be making so much each appearance especially as he isn't the biggest draw anymore, which he was earlier in his TNA career.

The fact that retirement rumours keep surfacing each year says to me that either Sting isn't that motivated and it is only the money that is keeping him there or he does that to keep his pay high. I always prefer to see any athlete going out when they are still on top rather than continuing too long *cough*Ric Flair*cough*. I think that he has had many opportunities to go out on a high and his storylines are getting too repetitive especially the yearly title vs career type angle.

Do you think that Sting is an asset to TNA anymore? Should they have given him another contract? Should he have signed another contract? How much longer should he stay in TNA?

I think Sting is still a good asset to TNA, I really do.

However, now that there isnt MEM and Angle is in a feud with some new guy who looks like he should be a jobber, Steiner feuding with Lashley and Nash feuding with EY I think Sting can still be used in a new fashion away from that whole MEM thing that happened over the last year, but should be done so in a way that he isnt hogging screen time, nor hogs ME time.

This would be hard to do, but i think it would be cool if TNA did have a second show, and Sting was the General Manager of that show and Hogan was manager of Impact. He could lead various superstars on that show, and mentor them and there could be an angle of who has the best show in TNA, where Hogan is some arrogant dhead who claims that he is the face of TNA ect. Obviously there would be like intershow tournaments to decide number 1 contenders ect, and then this whole angle would end at BFG 2010, where there is the final 'show supremacy' match between Hogan vs Sting, in Stings final match, in which he wins (Wouldnt be for title, as both men are the "GMs of their shows". Plus that new show, would hopefully get ratings simply because Sting will be on air and have matches every now and then. Obviously the roster would have to grow by about 10 superstars, but then again they can have people appearing on both shows, like the champions ect.

Would it work?? It could, but I dont think the roster would hold up

Personally, I don't think Sting is worth it, as TNA clearly just needs to focus on their younger roster in order to compete with wwe as opposed to tryin to be wwe. And did Sharpshooter really just say Nigel looks like he should just be a jobber?? Are you actually a wrestling fan or do u just enjoy the concept of forums?

Nigel McGuinness a jobber!??

Someone should stay to the WWE Universe forum, he has no place here.

On top, Sting is a TNA figure head, just like he was in WCW, even if he doesn't wrestle, I'd be happy to see him there as long as he's putting the youth over.

I agree, Sting is older than some of the residents I take care of..That's not to say he's not the shiz, but fits hit the shan. His glory days appear to be like Pearl Jams GH album, in the rearviewmirror. I'd like to see him in a different role, he could definitely help younger talent on the roster, that is if money talks. Personally, I don't really care to see him stay or go all that much, but seriously I think Sting would probably pull a Flair.

If u read it properly, i said that his look makes him look shitty and thus like a jobber, i didnt say that he is a jobber.

And that is why education is imperative in todays society.

I do not think TNA is really gaining much off Sting anymore. He is not really an asset anymore. He is now a liability in my opinion with the signing of Hogan. He really has done everything in TNA that he can do. I just don't see him giving much more to TNA.

Sting matched Aj Styles step for step at Bound for Glory in there TNA Championship main event, did not look slow and was integral in some of the fast paced exchanges that occurred. In comparison to Hulk Hogan and Ric Flair, Sting can still work decently at this point in his illustrious career, and the recent bouts he has had in TNA just go to show it.

To disect Sting`s use to TNA, outline the available scenario`s, Sting has faced pretty much everyone on the TNA roster, so a repeat of the feuds and matches he has already had and expand on them.

MAIN EVENT MAFIA - Sting returns, turns heel and the MEM reforms with Scott Steiner, Kurt Angle, Kevin Nash, Samoa Joe and Hulk Hogan to dominate TNA, nwo style leading to a second main event mafia vs frontline storyline. Would require Hulk Hogan to actively return to competition in a limited role. The frontline opposing them could be Aj Styles, Daniels, Bobby Lashley, Hernandez, Matt Morgan and Abyss.

AJ STYLES - Sting returns as the mystery attacker of Aj Styles demanding a rematch for the TNA Championship, they have only faced twice before at Turning Point 08 and Bound for Glory 09, and this is a route that TNA creative may decide upon.

SAMOA JOE - Sting returns as face, the same as when he left and begins a feud with the Samoan Submission Machine. Faced twice also at Bound for Glory 08 and Victory Road 09, the 1st time was for the TNA Championship. Sting has faced Aj Styles and Samoa Joe at consecutive Bound for Glory events.

KURT ANGLE - The two battled each other in the main event of Bound for Glory 07, won by Sting and also at Destination X 09, the only two leaders of the main event mafia and could happen in a face vs face or face vs heel.

DANIELS - Sting and Daniels had a mini feud in the summer of 2007 leading to a match at Slammiversary 07, Daniels would get a big rub defeating Sting in a long match and would give Sting a feud that he has not had before.

THE NEW GUYS - Hernandez, Bobby Lashley and Desmond Wolfe. Sting has only faced Hernandez on iMPACT and never faced either Wolfe or the "boss" Bobby Lashley. The "blueprint" Matt Morgan also, the two collided at Slammiversary 09 and was a exciting match carried by Sting for the most part.

THE VETERANS - Sting and Hulk Hogan are emersed by a storied past, the match at Starrcade 97, Superbrawl 8, and Fall Brawl 99 when Sting turned heel to win the WCW Title from Hulk Hogan. Sting and Hulk Hogan never really clicked and the matches were not that great and now some 12 years later it would be a dud match that will not showcase the two men in the shiniest light. Scott Steiner and Kevin Nash, had matches on the odd occasion in WCW, and against big poppa pump or big sexy, brings back some nostalgia and memory of WCW for there fans, and attracts that left over WCW audience since its demise. Mick Foley defeated Sting with the TNA Title on the line at Lockdown 09 in the six sides of steel and a match outside the confines of a cage is ppv worthy.
